Gum disease can be prevented easily by regular scaling and cleaning
Dental Cleaning
Involves removing plaque (soft, sticky, bacteria infected film) and tartar (calculus) which are hard deposits that have built up on the teeth over time.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry primarily offers a range of dental treatment options which significantly improves a patient’s appearance and therefore wellbeing.
Gum Disease / Bleeding gums
Were you aware that gum diseases might cause life-threatening cardiac problems? Regular scaling and cleaning can help prevent gum disease. When you clean your teeth, if your gums bleed, it could be an early indication of gum disease. Regular cleanings by our dentist can help stop gum disease and bad breath from getting worse. You may have a smile that exudes confidence and maintain a healthy lifestyle with consistent professional care, perseverance, and a positive outlook.
Pregnant women, cancer patients, diabetics, and those using antidepressant and epilepsy medications should also have their gums examined and maintained in good condition.
involves eliminating tartar, or calculus, which is a hard deposit that has accumulated on the teeth over time, and plaque, which is a soft, sticky film that is contaminated with bacteria. Saliva, which is constantly washing over your teeth, includes calcium and other elements that support and shield teeth. Although this is a positive thing, it also means that, like lime scale in a kettle, we tend to accumulate calcium deposits on our teeth. It typically has a tooth-colored appearance and is readily confused for a tooth. Its colour can also change, ranging from brown to black. Unfortunately, if the scale is allowed to build up, it will create the ideal environment for bacteria to flourish close to the gums, which will result in gum disease.
In order to remove the larger particles of tartar, the dentist may use a device that vibrates to a tickle while misting cool water to wipe away the dirt. Following this procedure, the dentist will polish and smooth the tooth surfaces to encourage better oral hygiene, breath, and a smile that is more radiant.

Fluoride Treatment
Similar to the All-on-4 approach, the All-on-6 technique provides a secure and stable solution for extensive tooth loss. This method strategically positions six implants in the jawbone to support a fixed dental bridge or prosthesis. The additional implants offer increased stability and strength, which is particularly beneficial for individuals who require additional support due to extensive bone loss or a more comprehensive restoration.
- High dental decay activity
- A dry mouth secondary to radiation therapy to head and neck region
- Medications that reduce saliva flow
- Multiple root caries

Treatment for Children
Because we at Mount Pleasant Medical & Dental Centre recognize the significance of a child’s teeth development, we encourage parents to take their child in for a thorough dental examination every six months. We monitor the growth of your child’s jaw to identify, identify, and treat any dental problems early on. If required, we may even suggest orthodontic intervention.
It’s a popular misperception that a child’s baby teeth are less significant than their adult teeth. This is untrue; if maintained in ideal condition, primary teeth aid in the growth of a child’s jaw and prepare the way for robust, well positioned adult teeth.
We ensure that your child has an enjoyable and exciting first visit and that they are always completely informed about what is
- taking place to help them comprehend the procedure and its advantages. We think it’s important to educate your kids and build a solid relationship with them so they grow up to have lifelong excellent dental practices.

Treatment for Children

Fissure Sealants
The molars and premolars, or back teeth, have deep grooves and pits on their chewing surfaces that can catch sticky food particles and sweet or acidic fluids. Studies reveal that these cracks and pits are where most deterioration begins.
Tooth decay can be avoided by filling cavities and pits using fluoride-containing filling materials that flow freely. Children can tolerate this non-invasive, straightforward procedure with ease. One of the greatest preventive dental treatments available is pit and fissure sealants.

The Decision to Remove a Tooth
Removal of a tooth or teeth is only done after careful consideration and discussion with your dentist. Every effort is made to preserve teeth.
In an attempt to save a tooth, your dentist may recommend a Root Canal Treatment. However it is not suitable in every case and is recommended only if successful treatment is likely.
Reasons for General Extractions:
Extensive damage to a Tooth: If a tooth is badly decayed or damaged due to trauma, extraction may be necessary.
Periodontal Disease: Due to poor dental hygiene and a build-up of plaque and calculus (tartar) on a tooth, the gums may become inflamed and infected (periodontal disease). If not treated promptly, periodontal disease is likely to damage the underlying bone and other tissues around the tooth’s root. The infection may cause the tooth to become loose in its socket. Despite treatment, saving the tooth may not be possible.
Prevention of complications:
If badly diseased teeth are not extracted promptly, complications such as infection or abscess in the teeth or roots, or the spread of infection through the blood stream to other parts of the body, may occur. This may affect the general health of the patient.
Teeth with no function
- It would be preferable to extract a tooth if it has no mate to grind against when chewing.
Children’s extraction of teeth: Since primary (deciduous) teeth are necessary for the correct eruption of secondary (permanent) teeth, they are rarely extracted. Primary teeth are sometimes referred to as baby teeth or milk teeth.
Improve appearance
To improve appearance: As part of Orthodontic treatment or a treatment plan to improve the appearance of teeth, your dentist may recommend removing a tooth which interferes with another.
- Generally, this process takes 3 to 6 months, depending on the bone health & structure. However, the procedure can be completed in one day when patients have good bone structure.
- After that, you can schedule the second surgery, but only once the implants are fused with the bone. Your dentists will take an x-ray to confirm whether the Implant is fit for the second surgery.
- The second surgery will be simpler than the first, where a new incision is made to expose the heads of the implants.
Vertical cracks in a tooth:
If a tooth is broken vertically, there may be a break running all the way from the chewing surface to the root surface. They frequently exhibit few symptoms, making them difficult to identify. The tooth may need to be extracted as part of the treatment.
Following an extraction, neighboring teeth may shift and tilt into the empty space left by the missing tooth. It could be required to use a bridge, plate, or dental implant to stop the neighboring teeth from migrating into the gap.
